About Ceramic Coating

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your clear coat. Once cured, it forms a hydrophobic, UV-resistant layer that water beads off, dust slides off easier, and bug acid does not eat into the paint as quickly. It does not make a car invincible — nothing does — but it meaningfully reduces how fast paint degrades in High Desert sun and Inland Empire commute conditions.

We offer two tiers: a SiO2-based ceramic spray ($75-$120) that lasts 3-6 months and is great for daily drivers, and a professional nano-ceramic application (separate quote) that lasts 2-5 years and is appropriate for new cars, recently corrected paint, or vehicles kept under cover.

Application is straightforward but the prep matters: any contamination left under the coating is sealed in for the life of the product. We always wash, decontaminate with iron remover and clay bar, and (if needed) do a single-stage polish before coating. If you skip the prep, you waste the coating.

Ceramic is most worth it on darker paint colors, on cars parked outside, and on cars that get driven the freeway daily (Cajon Pass commute, 91, 15). It is less worth it on a garage queen — wax does most of what you need there.

FAQs about Ceramic Coating

How long does ceramic spray actually last?
Spray-grade SiO2 ceramic lasts 3-6 months in our climate. In the High Desert UV and at coastal Long Beach it is closer to 3 months; in shaded garages it is closer to 6. We tell you when you are due for a re-application based on visible water beading.
Ceramic spray vs. full nano-ceramic — what is the difference?
Spray ceramic is fast (45 min), affordable ($75-$120), and lasts months. Full nano-ceramic is professional-grade, takes much longer (4-8 hours including prep), costs significantly more, and lasts 2-5 years. We do both; the right choice depends on your car, your goals, and your budget.
Do I need paint correction before ceramic?
If your paint has swirls or light scratches, yes — otherwise you are sealing those defects in for the life of the coating. We will walk around your car and tell you honestly. A single-stage correction adds $150-$250 and is worth it on a daily driver with visible swirls.
Can I wash my car normally after ceramic coating?
Yes, but use a pH-neutral car shampoo and avoid touchless car washes that use harsh detergents. Hand wash with a microfiber mitt is best. Avoid waxing over the ceramic — it does not bond and just sits on top.
